We want to highlight WCI PTA’s impacts so far this school year and what you can look forward to for the Spring Semester. We are so grateful for your volunteer hours, donated items, and your contributions to the PTA Annual Fund – THANK YOU!
On that note, we still need YOU! We are currently 300+ members strong but we would love to see this number grow to represent more voices of our community. Can we make it to 400… or more?
Membership and Annual Fund donations directly fund the budget we can work with. Join the PTA today and please consider donating to the PTA Annual Fund, any time. The more members we have, the bigger the impact we can make on our students' educational experience!
Throughout the school year, the WCI PTA enables the following:
- Welcomed new and 6th grade families with pizza for WEB Day and parent coffee.
- Treated students to fun, fun, fun – skate nights, Character Pillars recognition days, purchased supplies for the Color Splash Run.
- Coordinated lots and lots of volunteer hours – thank you!
- Advocated for students by sharing important legislative information and contributed a portion of your membership dues to state and national PTA advocacy work.
- Educated families, in partnership with WCI, at our Cyber Safety parent ed night.
- Encouraged creative expression through the PTA Reflections program and hosted the district showcase at the WCI library.
- Evoked important conversations through PTA Book Club.
- Created community, giving parents a chance to mingle and dress up as their middle schooler at our Adult Social.
- Informed our parent community, publishing weekly eNews editions
- Showed teachers and staff a lot of love with catered lunches and stocking the lounge with tasty snacks.
- Through PTA’s funding, Keith Hawkins visited WCI to share his Day of Understanding program and host a parent ed night on – How to Understand a Middle Schooler.
- Vision/hearing screenings on campus (February)
- All school dance (March)
- Book Fair (TBD)
- Day on the Green for 6th & 7th grade (May)
- 8th grade picnic at Heather Farm Park (May)
- PTA Founders’s Day, including Honorary Service Awards
- PTA’s grand finale – the 8th grade promotion party!
The WCI PTA strives to create programs and events that bring our community together and make all families feel welcomed. We hope the PTA has touched and improved your student’s WCI experience in some way.
Many thanks,
Chrissy Morss, WCI PTA President and the entire PTA Executive Board

At Walnut Creek Intermediate we have a special community of educators, students, administrators, staff members, parents, and other citizens. Do you know someone who has gone the extra mile to make the WCI experience the best for our students? On April 24th at the PTA annual Founders Day we will celebrate and honor these special individuals who go above and beyond for our WCI community.
Please take a minute to nominate someone who deserves this recognition. You can nominate a staff member, student or parent volunteer. If you are nominating more than one person make sure to submit separate forms for each nomination.

PLEASE SUPPORT BOTH WCI PTA & WCEF TK-12
Welcome to 2023-24! When you donate to the Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF) and join the PTA you are supporting our school! Your donations to WCEF are vital to enhance your child's education beyond what the state funds.
California ranks 33rd in the country in per student funding resulting in only a basic education. The programs, teachers, and elective classes that make WCI special—credentialed librarian, math coach, more electives for students to choose from—are made possible only through your donations to WCEF.
The WCI PTA plays a crucial role in building community, organizing events, and supporting our exceptional teachers and staff and is part of a larger state association. To maintain these valuable programs and services, we kindly request families to contribute to both WCEF and the PTA this year.
The suggested donation to meet our 2023-24 $1.5 million goal is $825 per child to WCEF and $50 per child to PTA. However, what matters most is a united community coming together to give and volunteer whatever we can.
